Hot Frame took us back to Jyll Bradley's 1980s teenage bedroom, exploring queer identity and her relationship to nature through photography, sculpture and drawing. The exhibition dealt with the physical and philosophical nature of thresholds.
The title 'Hot Frame' references horticultural structures that protect vulnerable young plants. The work draws parallels between spaces for nurturing plant life and spaces for nurturing Bradley’s personal and creative identity as a young person: her family’s greenhouse, her childhood bedroom, and the hop fields that populated the local landscape.
